My style of wedding photography combines creative portraiture with reportage, or photojournalism. Im very much influenced by editorial portraiture and fashion photography. I like visually strong, eye catching imagery, something that has a wow factor, so I try to create that when I do the bride and groom portraits. I have learned to work quickly using two camera bodies each set up for different looks one shooting available light and the other controlling off camera lighting. This enables me to get two completely different looks from one set up and maximise the variety of images captured in the available time. When not doing this style of creative portraiture (which perhaps only accounts for 15-20% of the time on a typical wedding) I am telling your wedding story through classic photojournalism or reportage photography. My approach here is to become almost invisible and to capture all the emotions, events and details of the day - the laughter, the tears, the expressions of true love in a natural and visually striking way.
