Artist: John Johnson Born: Coleraine 1957 John Johnson has painted for over thirty years evolving through series after series knowing that art was always going to be part of his life. Pushing the boundaries has become the norm with John. Becoming a professional artist in 2001 has allowed time to take his art further afield into France, USA, England and Monaco. John is a frequent visitor to the south of France where his patrons Holiday Riviera, have encouraged John to push his boundaries yet further resulting in an exhibition in Antibes in 2009 close to Pablo Picasso museum. In taking his work to France John has turned the tide, as over the years artists have looked to France for influence. 2012 seen RTE did a show on John Johnsons work, this included works on riot shields and the race horses training on the north coast. Horses are indeed Irelands largest industry, to be able to see race horses; training in such beautiful scenery is so inspiring. The Whiterocks and Downhill Strand reflecting into the wet sand with the reflecting images of the horses seem to create their own mystical dream scape. "The depth of feeling and total originality evident in John Johnsons work brings about a refreshing change of style and technique and reveals to us that this artist is not apprehensive about experimenting with his own perception of scenery or subject".
